My parents have had this old medium format camera sitting on a shelf for years and years. It turns out that this camera is none other than the Meopta Flexaret V. A medium format camera which was manufactured in the Czech Republic in 1958 (it was Czechoslovakia back then). I think it was a wedding present. Recently I became interested in trying to take some pictures with it.

Over the winter of 2021, I had a chance to make a bike frame and learn to weld at the same time. Here’s how it went.

I wanted to make a special baren as a christmas gift. A baren is a tool for applying even pressure while making prints. This baren will be used to press linoleum stamps onto paper. I made it using hand tools out of a scrap of cherry wood.

This past semester, I wrote a story about a walk through a changing world. It’s called A Walk.

A few years ago I got to do a workshop with some designers from New Balance. It was very cool to learn how they approach the design of footwear. The idea behind the workshop was to reimagine some aspect of footwear. The design I went with was a sports shoe designed to be as light and still provide good support. The upper would be knit for fit and breathability. Surrounding the uppoer is an organically inspired plastic mesh to provide stiffness and support. I used Houdini and took a procedural approach to the designs.

We had some strange old lenses in our attic and I was excited to try them out on the AE-1.

Right at the beginning of the pandemic, Theo gave me this Canon AE-1 with a really nice Tamron Adaptall 35-80mm lens and a stuck shutter.
