I made all of the following projects in Grasshopper.
Multimaterial 3D printed flexible wheels with embedded scales for traction
for a high performance climbing robot at the Harvard Biodesign Lab.
Made in Grashopper and completely parametric, the wheel height, width, thickness, scale count, scale size, and honeycomb structure can all be adjusted on the fly.
A parametric model for generating realistic
bird egg patterning using Grasshopper and C# for Princeton's Stoddard Lab.
The eggs are part of an ongoing project studying animal coloration and
avian sensory ecology, physiology, and morphology.
A 3D printed multimaterial flexible model of fish skin with rigid scales embedded, for studying the hydrodynamics effects of different fish scale morphologies. Done for Harvard's Lauder Lab.
Scale size, depth in skin, angle, and many properties of the ctenii (spines) are exposed parameters in Grasshopper.
